Prize-Winning Pierogi at Penn (and Pumpkin Pie Pierogi Return for October!)
Mmm…the comforting aroma of pumpkin pie pierogi is filling the kitchen at Penn Brewery! Pumpkin pie is our October pierogi special of the month. These handmade pockets of creamy spiced pumpkin tucked in tender dough are topped with whipped cream and sugared nuts. To die for!
Penn Brewery’s pierogi recently won second place in WPXI’s “Pittsburgh’s Best Pierogi” contest. Congratulations Chef Greg and team!

... and Penn Beers Win at the Great American Beer Festival
Wow - first pierogi, now beer! Penn Brewery captured two medals - a silver for St. Nikolaus Brewer's Reserve and a bronze for Penn Dark - at the prestigious 2011 Great American Beer Festival in Denver. The competition was fierce, with 3,930 beers from 526 U.S. breweries vying for medals. Kudos to Andy Rich, Nick Rosich, and their brewing team!

It’s Back – Our Brewer’s Choice Harvest Rye Pale Ale

Our favorite fall beer, Penn’s Harvest Rye PA, is on tap once again, complementing the bounty of the season. This rich amber-colored beer is brewed with equal amounts of Munich barley malt and malted rye, along with plenty of Chinook, Columbus, and Perle hops. It’s a nicely aromatic and balanced brew that pairs perfectly with blue cheese, grilled steak, pumpkin pie, and spice cake. Harvest Rye Pale Ale is available on draft at Penn Brewery restaurant and other select venues around Pittsburgh. Or, pick up Harvest Rye in 22-ounce bottles at your favorite distributor. Better hurry, though – this is a limited edition seasonal beer.
